Objective In this joint programme, laboratories of six EEC countries will study and optimise the weld, stud and bolt connections in various parts of steel bridges, in order to better accommodate fatigue. Computer calculations by finite elements and tests on welded, bolted, cracked and repaired components will result in design rules recommendations.
