Objective
"Entrepreneurial process (EP) lies in the heart of new knowledge-driven globalizing (i.e. Born Global) venture creation. Born Global's are expected to support achieving the EU and national policy targets in economic development and unemployment reduction. Yet, studies of the EP have a gap between modest accuracy of the variance approach models and potentially lower generality of the process theory models.
The General Objective of the BGPROCESS project is Bridging the gap between the variance and the process methodology to develop and validate a novel model of EP for new venture creation. To do so, we have established 3 Specific Objectives and split the work into 5 Work Packages, of which 3 are research oriented: 1. Theory development and model creation; 2. Model validation; 3. Application/Implementation tools development.
The novel model of the EP combines the motivational, intellectual, mental and physical variables, decisions and acts of the entrepreneur into integrated stages and sub-processes. The qualitative phenomenological approach, theory development & modelling, qualitative and quantitative research on the sample of 150-200 SMEs in several countries will be used to achieve the General Objective. Implementation of the novel model in the international entrepreneurship theory is the basis for higher explanatory and predictive power of research on the EP of accelerated internationalization by knowledge intensive “born global” SMEs.
The novel EP model, implemented in entrepreneurship development framework, enables the creation of reasoned and relevant policy, training and support-system development for knowledge-driven high potential SMEs and new ventures, to drive the economy thereof. Policy recommendations for the smart specialization and national innovation programmes, additional module for the national GEM survey, new modules for academia and practical training will be created.
ACE-QUT will be the experienced host and UT the developing return host."
