International Fellowship Program on Integrative Kidney Physiology and Pathophysiology

Objectif

"IKPP is a postdoctoral program established in June 2010 with the help of European funding under the FP7 COFUND scheme. IKPP is associated with the interuniversitary educational program of a Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research, ""Kidney Control of Homeostasis – Kidney.CH"". The educational program of IKPP within Kidney.CH strengthens integrative thinking and awareness for kidney-centred homeostatic systems and increases corresponding theoretical and practical skills among young scientists and physicians. IKPP offers excellent training conditions for international students in a highly collaborative research environment at leading research institutions and university hospitals in Switzerland.

With the help of the European funding under the current COFUND call, IKPP will improve its current postdoctoral program in a substantial and systematical way by (i) increasing the number of recruited applicants; (ii) offering fellowship extensions; (iii) significantly increasing its own budget; (iv) increasing the freedom of choice for IKPP applicants; (v) increasing the number of calls; and (vi) providing improved recruitment and training conditions.

IKPP 2 will offer competitive 2 years fellowships to 18 outstanding young researchers within the International Incoming Scheme with the aim of providing high quality initial postdoctoral training to young researchers from all over the world. In addition, IKPP 2 will offer competitive 2 years fellowships to 3 more experienced researchers of European origin within the International Reintegration Scheme with the aim of attracting, reintegrating and stabilizing these researchers in Europe after a research stay outside of the European Research Area. Within both fellowship schemes, recruited fellows can apply for an extension of their fellowship for up to 12 months.

Our program provides Europe with new generations of kidney researchers and considerably improves the research quality of the European Research Area."
