The development project for a cheap, innovative 100% bacteria free brush for the food and health care sector

Objective

The main aim of the Superhygiene project is to develop a cheap, innovative 100% bacteria free brush that repels water and grime, ensuring bacteria are given the poorest living conditions. This will be achieved through in mould tufted filaments using ultrasonic vibration and also through developing a method of achieving a super hydrophobic surface, giving the brush lotus effect, that will help keep the brush head clean, increasing the antibacterial effect. A electronic system will be developed to monitor the brushes, to ensure these are inspected regularly, to safeguard that they are undamaged and not worn out which will secure that cleaning processes successfully can be applied. The production technology will eliminate several processes in the usual manufacture of brushes like drilling, cleaning and clamping of filaments, since everything will be done in-mould.
