Objective The TIDE project is concerned with speeding the flow of information between Thomas Miller & Co, (an organisation which administers Mutual Insurance Associations in the three market areas of Marine, Aviation and Non-Marine), and the Insureds (also referred to as "Members") of these Associations. One of the expected benefits of the project will be faster payment of claims to the Insureds. The project is located within the "Protection & Indemnity" (P + I Club) segment of the Marine Insurance market. A P + I Club exists entirely for it's Members benefits. Such a club is non-profit making, all of the P + I funds and investment income is used to re-imburse Members with the claims and costs in cases brought against them, and to meet the expenses of the Club's administration. Thomas Miller & Co is the London agent for the managers of the UK P + I Club. Two of the Members (in Greece and the Netherlands) will be involved in the pilot. Within the flow of information between the Members and Thomas Miller & Co it will be the following transactions that will be the subject of the pilot: Incident Notification Incident Acknowledgement Claim Notification Claim Acknowledgement Textual Updates Invoice/Debit Note Credit/Debit Note Acknowledgement. It is planned to have installed the EDI service in the SMEs by mid-February 1990.
