Objective It appears that a plasma torch coupled to a mass spectrometer is a very interesting basic technique for which the performance can be improved for a wide range of elements (arsenic, antimony, bismuth, selenium, tellurium, etc.). This research work will study techniques for transforming elements which are initially in a solid state into gaseous state for injection into the plasma arc, using hydride generation techniques rather than using conventional nebulization techniques.
