Rationalization actions for urban mobility

Objetivo

The MOBLIFE project aims at designing and testing a rational framework for urban moblity and day-time management in the area of Bergamo, by using hard and soft operational tools and developing consensus on resolving issues concerning their application.

The project focuses on the development of a reference model to provide a means of getting a more rational use of day-time and transport system in order to decongest urban traffic, reduce air pollution and consequently improve quality of life.

The envisaged approach would involve in particular:
- an investigation of the current pattern of day-time structure;
- a survey on current mobility flows in relation to the transport system organisation;
- development of a functional reference model based on new modes of access to transport means and a more suitable organisation of time services;
- identification of potential applications and matching of user requirements;
- promotion of concertation meetings, involving possible sponsoring organisations to define and evaluate the implementation strategy;
- definition of a specific social contract for mobility between the actors involved in the concertation groups.

The proposed reference model designed within this project, can provide to all areas concerned with traffic congestion, a pilot system to develop specific applications (for instance telematic applications) based on users needs and assess their potential impact.
