Integrated water management system including distribution networks

Objective

This project is a fully modular approach with built-in expandability and reusability characteristics and will contribute towards:
- the integrated management of a water basin
- the hierarchical development of a telemetry network
- the modernization and development of monitoring networks
- the support of environmental policies

The proposed project deals with the integrated quantity and quality management of a natural water resources system, and the control of sectional demands (ie public water supply).
The project will be demonstrated on a water basin level. Implemented in the major area of the city of Ioannina (Greece). Demonstration actions include:
- Development of a methodology for the quantitiative and qualitative water resources management.
- Exemplary telemetry network design and development.
- Modelling and simulation of the natural/artificial Water Resources and distribution systems.
- Evaluation of alternative scenarios and strategies.
- Optimization and control of a Water distribution system.
- Training and seminars addressed to key staff of local organizations.
- Increase citizen awareness for environmental issues.
The project is proposed by Municaplity of Ioannina (Greece) and Sewage of Ioannina (DEYAI). University of Ioannina and ENVIRONMETRICS a consortium of two private companies ENVIROTECH and METRA, dealing with environmental technologies and information technology respectively.
