Development and optimization of an integrated system for drop irrigation (using waste water difficult

Objective

A) Optimization of the exploitation of existing water resources;
B) utilization of refluent waters difficult and expensive to dispose of;
C) cultivation of uncultivated land;
D) monitoring of the underground water resources.

The proposed project involves the study, execution, experimentation and starting up of drop irrigation techniques using ground water and refluent waters from an organic water purifier.
The project can be divided into three main parts:
1. utilization of refluent waters from an organic purifier;
2. cultivation of approximately 15 hectares of level ground, near the coast, which is now uncultivated;
3. setting up of a monitoring system above and below the level of the ground so as to assess the actual water requirement for the cultivation and to control the conditions of the underground water on various places.
With reference to point 1: the refluent water (the biological purifier is located on the campsite Orizzonte) is mainly produced (approx. 95% of the annual total: 1900m{3}) in July and August when more water is required for the cultivation.
With reference to point 2: an area of not less than 15 hectares of level ground (in the vicinity of the purifier) will be cultivated.
With reference to point 3: a monitoring system will be set up for the groundwater to control the main parameters: height of the water-bearing stratum, the infiltration, if any, of salty water; the presence, if any, of chemical pollutants, etc.

The data will be transferred via radio to a centre for the collection and processing of data in real time.
