Airwatch Partnership Project

Obiettivo

The project would analyse from a local historical city point of view the implications of setting up and extending local air quality monitoring programmes - including such factors as funding, health, local participation and access, effects of traffic decanting from city centres. Alongside this the study would examine practically the potential of setting up a capillary network for the smaller European Historical Cities.

The two year project will, through the establishment of a research unit here at Oxford under the guidance of a Steering Committee consisting of representatives from the partnership, address the following questions.

1. What potential is there in local partnership schemes?
2. Could our civic twinning links provide help?
3. Is a European self help network of similar historical cities possible?
4. What are the benefits of sharing data between medium sized Euro historical cities?
5. What are the key factors in setting up, or in our case extending monitoring arrangements?
6. What is the relevance of local people in this process?
7. What is the best method for disseminating data for the benefit of local people?

At the conclusion there will be an Exchange Conference at the University for similar cities to share the knowledge gained.
