Environmental risk criteria

Objectif

The main objective of the existing project is to produce a Discussion Document within the European Community, relating to acceptability or tolerability criteria for risk of harm to the natural environment, resulting from unplanned events. The project focuses on two
ecosystems, namely rivers and estuaries.
The additional proposal is to extend the scope of each phase/task of the existing project to a further ecosystem: lakes. A draft set of risk criteria will be proposed for lakes. This will be followed by a series of trials, aimed at testing the practicality of the criteria, and also at ensuring that the three sets of criteria, for rivers, estuaries and lakes, are consistent.
AGEL-CBI will be involved with AEA and VROM, and other interested parties, as appropriate, in reviewing the existing work on river systems, including a review of the measure of harm adopted therein. AGEL-CBI Will assist in the process of discussion and debate and will contribute to the preparation of the Discussion Document.
