Objective In this proposal , DELFT Hydraulics offers access to four of its experimental facilities, whereas scientists from the central and eastern countries and the former soviet union apply for support for access to these facilities through the submission of proposals for research projects to be performed in these facilities. The facilities are: M. Multi-directional wave basin. D. Wave flume for large scale testing (Delta flume). s. Glass-wall wave current flume with active wave absorption. T. Internal-wave flume. The proposed research activities are mainly concentrated on the behaviour of sediments (mud and sand) under the action of currents and waves and on the stability of the rubble foundation and scour near the toe of caisson structures. Goals of the research projects are to obtain better insight into basic physical principles of sedimentation erosion and morphology, and to obtain accurate laboratory data (under controlled conditions) for the validation of numerical models. Through this proposal the opportunity is created for as well the visiting researchers, the researchers of DELFT HYDRAULICS as those from other European countries to create new networks for scientific discussions and for the exchange of scientific ideas.
