Structural segmentation of medium-slow spreading axes and its relationship to the location and development of ridge hydroghermalism

Objetivo

1) To understand the evolution and origin of short (ie, non-dislocated) segment boundaries and the spatial and temporal variations of the segments which they bound.
2) To understand the life histories of hydrothermal sites along medium-slow spreading centres, patterns of location, their geochemical signatures and evolution.
3) To establish the correlation or independence between 1) and 2). 4) With direct or indirect relationships identified at 3), to develop systematically a range of predictive models which will enable the site evaluation of present segmented ridge axes, and assess the future potential of existing ridge systems.
