Obiettivo The initial objective of the study is to establish and optimise the accuracy, repeatability and reproducibility of measurements of pesticide residues in agricultural and horticultural products in the Community. The ultimate objective is a feasibility study to test the preparation of natural contaminated Certified Reference Materials for cereals. The initial study will focus on a priority group of twelve insecticides. In collaboration with DG VI, and in accordance with Directives 76/895/EEC, 86/362/EEC and 86/363/EEC, this comprises ten organophosphorus insecticides and two pyrethroid insecticides. The study will comprise five phases: Phase 1 The preparation of dilute solutions of insecticides together with homogeneity and stability studies of these solutions. Phase 2 An intercomparison study of two dilute solutions of insecticides. Phase 3 A pilot study to establish the homogeneity and stability of four insecticides film-coated on to cereal grains. Phase 4 An intercomparison study of the treated cereal grains. Phase 5 A feasibility study to establish an appropriate combination of insecticides and application systems to be used for production of "naturally-contaminated" cereal grains. The influences of drying processes, chemical stabilisers and gamma-irradiation will be studied.
