AIR-CONDITIONING OF CULTURAL CENTRE OF MOLINA BY MEANS OF A SOLAR ROOF

Obiettivo

The principal aim is to develop structurally integrated air-conditioning systems and thus design buildings with efficient energy use. The expected savings are 20 TOE/yr. The secondary objectives are :
- Reduction of petroleum dependency
- Reduction of CO2 and CFC emissions into the atmosphere.
- Reduction of water vapour emission into the atmosphere.
- Establish a presence in the energy markey.
- To reduce the greenhouse effect.
- To eliminate the toxic and dangerous residues from the present energy sources.
- To eliminate the danger of explosion and/or incendiary of present air-conditioning systems.

INNOVATVE TECHNOLOGY
The principle innovative aspects are :
- The integrated solar roof.
- The integrated design of the air-conditioning system.
- The pressure and temperature conditions under which the roof is operating.
- Reduction by 80% of the installed electrical power.
DESCRIPTION OF THE SOLAR ROOF
The solar roof is an integrated design of thermal collector, passive protection, refrigeration, natural daylight and ventilation. The basic element of the solar roof is the photothermic cell.
This consists of two basic components :
- A reflective surface
- An absorbent surface.
The photothermic cell :
- allows the transfer of solar energy via the absorbent cell to the water which circulates through it.
- enables the formation of a triple roof covering the whole building to thermally insulate the environment and protect against excessive solar radiation during summer.
- by its geometric form, forms an open cavity which promotes the hot air circulation and keeps out the thermal solar energy during summer. During winter it prevents loss of energy from the building.
- permits the direct access of the daylight into the building via the transparent cells.
- allows the extraction of thermal energy from the building roof during summer by means of nocturnal radiation. CONTEXT IN WHICH THE TECHNOLOGY IS FUNCTIONING
The technology is used for air-conditioning (cold or warm) and for the warm water supplies for sanitary use in the cultural complex of Molina.
ECONOMICAL ASPECTS OF THE TECHNOLOGY, THESE ARE ADDITIONAL COSTS COMPARED TO CONVENTIONAL EQUIPMENT.
The proposed technology amounts to the sum of 200 x 1000000 pts, the traditional technology amounts to the sum of 120 x 1000000 pts, and the saved energy in pesetas amounts to 9 x 100000 pts. Currently amortisation is done over 9 years. In its commercial stage we hope that the proposed technology will cost 150x1000000 pts. In the future amortisation will be done over two years. All this is without taking into consideration the environmental benefits. MONITORING :
