Objetivo The aim of the proposal is to promote Energy Labelling as a concept and increase its infrluence over consumer choice at the point of sale.EXPECTED RESULT- An increase in the sales of energy efficient appliances- A positive public attitude to appliance labelling. The total no. of domestic households in Ireland is 1.25 million. The proposal has two elements which are summarised as follows:- General Publicity Programme with the emphasis on an examination of available techniques, in particular, their cost effectiveness in influencing the consumer at the pont of sale. It is to be conducted as follows:* Multi media generic campaigns highlighting the availability of easily recognisable energy labels, which can help the customer identify the more energy efficient appliance if they wish to save on running costs and contribute to a more healthy environment. These campaigns would invoice advertising on television, radio/newspapers. The labelling concept would also be promoted through the use of direct-mail by selecting specific sustomers groups and/or by use of mailshots to all customers with the electricity bill.* In-store point-of-sale information posters itc. highlighting the labels and indicating how they may be used to help the customer.* A range of specific campaigns in co-operation with product distributors/retailers to support the promotion of recognised energy efficient machines. This mechanism would be used as a way of encouraging distributors to agree to concentrate on promoting their more energy efficient machines under the energy labelling scheme.* Other energy label promotions/competitions attracting customers to labelled appliances.* Promotion would include actions for educational purposes including advice via a consumer/magazine and directly to schools.- Vendor Training Programme, that is the development, testing and delivery of a training package for sales assistants from the approximate 500 to 600 outlets throughout Ireland.
