Objetivo The objective of the project is to establish a theory of the unbending process, which is required for improvements of the basic design of straighteners for new or enhanced casters, both conventional and near-net-shape, and also to investigate improvements in the performance of existing bloom and slab casters. Numerical modelling will be developed and validated by extensive plant measurements on casters employing different straightening techniques.
