Objectif The objective or this additional proposal is to facilitate the extension of conventional TEPC to low pressures by calculating the response of the TEPC to a given incident radiation (mixed neutron and photon fields). Calculations of the response function of counters with different geometries will be made using a single event interaction code (to study the fluctuation of the electron avalanche) and commercially available slowing down codes (to study the slowing down of incident ionising particles). The coupling of these Monte Carlo-codes will contribute to the development of a new generation of TEPC and will enable calibration when conventional experimental calibration is impossible. Furthermore the microdosimetric definition of dose equivalent quantities will be analysed and the mean quality factor calculated, with the help of the Q(Y) function modification, avoiding numerical integration.
