Obiettivo We propose to extend the existing provision for access to the high power laser facilities under HCM Framework III (contract number ERB4050PL931253) at DRAL to include five weeks of experimental time for allocation to scientists from Central and Eastern European Countries, and from new independent states of the former Soviet Union. Proposals for beam time would be reviewed by the panel of European specialists which is already in place to assess proposals from researchers who are eligible for access under the existing contract. There will be opportunities for technical cooperation in laser and experimental development for groups not able to propose a major experiment. These proposals will also be scrutinised by the panel of specialists. An indicative list of potential applicants for beam time is attached as Appendix A. Costings have been taken directly from the existing contract, with a slightly higher element for visitor support to reflect higher travel costs.
