Cel The steering committee of the European Community Study Group for Coordination of Therapeutic Trials in Systemic Vasculitis is now in the process of finalising the following 4 protocols for treatment of: 1.patients with early generalised disease ("non-renal" Wegener's granulomatosis) (NOWAM) 2. patients with further generalised disease but without serious renal involvement (CYCAZAREM) 3.patients with severe renal involvement (MEPEX) 4.patients with refractory disease (WARCRY) The work programme of the concerted action has been followed as scheduled and the final protocols will be ready for distribution after the next meeting of the Subcommittee on Induction and Remission Trials (SIRT) in London on July 22. -23. It is important for the concerted action that we are able to include as many patients as possible and that as many countries as possible can participate in order to test the global value of the protocols. However,in order to secure that the trials can be carried out as planned with the necessary laboratory back-up, storing of test material and filing of data it is important that new participants are visited. The exact role of the group in Lithuania will be thoroughly discussed with Dr. Dadoniené, who is the national co-ordinator, and other members of the group (Dr. Maryté Tamulaitiené, Dr. zygmund Mackevic and professor Algirdas Venalis) in August. In the present case it is expected that Lithuania could participate in the first two trials (NOWAM and CYCAZAREM). However, it is anticipated that the participant will need additional laboratory help and we are prepared to use the fall of 1994 to perform the necessary up-dates.
