Objetivo The aims of this Concerted Action are: 1. Develop and evaluate new diagnostic methods for rapid and safe identification of VHS virus, thereby minimize the economic loss during an outbreak of the disease, and as an end result increase the efficiency in fish farming. 2. Perform studies on pathogenesis, especially spread of virus within the host thereby providing new insight for diagnostic work. 3. Perform in vitro studies in macrophage cultures with emphasis on uptake, processing and presentation of different virus proteins of importance for pathogenesis and basic immunology, thereby supply new knowledge of possible importance for preventive measures.
