Obiettivo The objectives of this concerted action is to access the need for and feasibility of projects on the innovation in farm accounting and its consequences for data-gathering on a European level through the Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN) RICA. Decision making by farmers becomes more complex as economics and environmental aspects demand integration. Information systems require adaptation and there is a special need for innovation in farm accounting. The concerted action will give an impression of the required resources, of the problems to overcome and may be considered as a first step in disseminating some Dutch experience with the information modelling approach in agriculture. The concerted action is a step in preparation and development of projects in which information models will be developed that supports the development of information systems to extend the RICA/FADN network with various types of data in order to support EC-policy making and evaluation. To make this FADN network more flexible, the opportunities and restriction of the use of the information modelling approach will be explored and discussed in the proposed concerted action. Conditions and limitations will be discussed for development of reference information models that make software development for farm information systems and monitoring systems for policy makers more flexible and harmonised.
