LINK GUIDE

Obiettivo

The Link Guide project consists of the creation and the maintaining of a database of key resources in telecommunications and computer science in Central and Eastern Europe. This database will be a directory of firms, universities, research and development centres as well as individuals. Records will be sorted according to international classification scheme (the European Classification of Activities).

Free access to this database will be possible by means of world area networks (direct access or using e-mail messages), or more simply by sending fax queries. Each partner will collect the data within its own country, using public registers, statistical offices and personal relations. The Franco-Polish School will develop the software package for the database and for data collection, and will also host the database. Each partner will promote the database in its own country.

The database will provide information on who does what in the field of telecommunications and computer science. Therefore, it should increase commercial links between countries (especially between Western Europe and Central-Eastern Europe) and technology transfers. In the first phase, access to the database will be free so as to promote it easily. When it becomes a useful tool to companies and institutes, the access could be charged ; the benefits will be used to increase the frequency of updates and the accuracy of the data.
