Extension of EUROCHIP Services to Central and Eastern European countries

Ziel

The objective of this project is to integrate institutions from Central and Eastern European countries into the EUROCHIP Action. The EUROCHIP services are fully used by many academic institutions throughout Europe, enabling them to increase the quality and quantity of their trained students to meet the emerging needs of European industry. Presently, these services are used by more than 350 institutions in EC and EFTA countries.

Under EUROEAST, academic institutions from Central and Eastern European countries will be supported in the use of design software, low cost prototype chip fabrication will be offered and they will be able to take part in the EUROCHIP advanced training courses. After an initial phase which will include special training and some "super-regional" meetings, a scientific cooperation is planned. Some funding of the EUROEAST contract is foreseen for activities not only of the five partners but also for all current and future EUROCHIP members from Central and Eastern European countries. PROGRESS AND RESULTS

The five Eastern partners have purchased design software and hardware (workstations or PCs) and they have attended EUROCHIP training courses and a EUROCHIP workshop.

INFORMATION DISSEMINATION ACTIVITIES AND EXPLOITATION

Three Eastern universities presented talks at the EUROCHIP workshop and took part in the exhibition. Results are published in the EUROCHIP newsletter.
