Objective The CERVIP project will build a new generation of flexible vision systems for a wide range of applications in the area of industrial automation. Developments will include: integrated tools to implement and characterise computer vision algorithms on low cost hardware tools to support the migration of vision algorithms to fast digital hardware for real industrial and related vision tasks system reconfigurability, in that the same system will be capable of being used for both developing the application and - after suitable reconfiguration - for final industrial systems. With the emergence of MS Windows and the PCI bus as core standards, the CERVIP system will be portable to a range of low cost hosts. Effective reuse of resources - both purely software and hardware acceleration routines - will be achieved by the development and standardisation of libraries. INFORMATION DISSEMINATION ACTIVITIES The consortium members aim to exploit the products generated on this project in a large fraction of the Eastern and Western European markets.
