Objectif The project aims to estabilish the extent to which habit influences the way that the most common electrical appliances are used, in order to achieve energy savings in the domestic sector. The findings will be used to evaluate the suitability of a future sensitization campaign to inform and educate the general public as to the correct use of these electrical appliances. The initial phase of the project monitors Italian consumers' electricity consumption habits in the domestic sector to provide a picture of how these electrical appliances (in particular cold and wet appliances) are used and where they are located in the house. The energy saving obtainable by changing consumer habits as well as the way in which the appliances are used will then be quantified. By means of two panel groups it will be defined the potential energy saving to be achieved through changes in consumer habits following an information campaign, using data on energy consumption and the new habits in the use of electrical appliances. From this it will be possible to determine on one hand the efficacy of a sensitization campaign, and on the other hand it will be possible to define the potential energy saving optained without substituting the electrical appliances already being used in the families.
