To disseminate knowledge of energy management teams, consultants and students

Objective

A freely available multimedia tool for strengthening the infrastructure in the field of energy management in an industrial environment; once it has proved succesful, translation into several European languages is possible.

Together with NOVEM, Philips is developing in the Netherlands an instructional CD-i for energy management. A CD-i is a multimedia tool for communicating knowledge in an interactive and user-friendly way. The medium has a low access treshold and low hardware cost. Furthermore, CD-i can be used in a mobile way. As the energy scan presupposes a participatory model in which the factory carries out the scan itself and is supported by consultants, instruction is necessary on the approach and the supporting tools. This CD-i contains the information and instructions for carrying out energy scans and implementing energy management for various target groups: familiarisation for factory managers, training of energy action teams of factories, energy consultants and the teaching of students.

As part of the SAVE project, the Dutch version will be adapted and made suitable for English-speaking and German-speaking areas:
- addition of EC environmental policy;
- addition of respective national environmental policy;
- adaptation to the culture of the country;
- translation.
The CD-i will then be tested in three practical situations.
