Optimisation of Office Equipment Energy end-Use : improvement of the prsent know-how in the tertiary sector

Objective

Assessment of present power load and electricity consumption of officeeEquipment energy end-use sector and building scale, and in real time, including:
- actual conditions of use of Energy Star labellised systems;
- side effects such as tariffs policy, power quality, influence on heat losses and cooling needs;
- analysis of improved/new technologies: 'Hydras' (i.e. Copier/Printer or Fax/telephone answering machine,...) larger screen size monitors, more powerful microprocessors, multiprocessor workstation,...;
- 24 H/24 operating time (worldwide communications,...);
- users and purchasers behaviour;
- obstacles to the dissemination of suc energy-efficient technologies onto the market;
- life-cycle analysis particularly the waste management of obsolete or end-of-life equipment.

The project is organised in several runs:
- Meetings and Seminars intending to accelerate and/or improve the dissemination of such energy-efficient technologies onto the market;
- Monitoring campaigns through fields measurements in all 3 countries and identification of possible extra partners, possibly concerned, in other european countries;
- Permanent contacts with manufacturers and policy-makers in order to establish updated guidelines in the framework of a possible worldwide Energy Star Programme;
