Application of least minimum cost as strategic instrument for new energy services in the new landers and other European countries

Obiettivo

The Stadtwerke as a local utility were founded in 1991 - 1993. As a utility in former GDR the Stadtwerke have been facing dramatical changes in the the whole energy system Jena.

These changes mean not only risks to the Stadtwerke, but also include the chance to develop and to offer new energy services to it's customers. In this context, Least-Cost Planning will be the bases for creating economical and environmental efficient services.

The project first analysis the excisting energy system in Jena. The project then shows, how the energy demand will change in the future assuming a kind of 'business as usual' scenario. Different options on the supply and demand side to cover/reduce the energy demand will be described. In another step, these options will be analysed in economical and ecological terms. The project also focus' on the needed changes in the internal structure of the Stadtwerke Jena, caused by offering new energy services to it's customers. The most promising instruments will be described in detail as well as specific marketing instruments.
