Cel History of Association/Laboratory Finnish Association has been set up, in March 1995, with the Technology Development Centre Finland (TEKES). A programme has been established, which will be carried out at various Laboratories in the Technical Research Centre Finland (VTT) and in Universities. Present scientific and technical programme The Association will concentrate on work in a small number of areas, where existing expertise shall be developed in order to establish centres of excellence. In fusion physics and plasma engineering, there are three projects: fusion plasma engineering at VTT-Energy, plasma physics at Hesinki University of Technology and plasma-wall interaction at the University of Helsinki. The work in fusion technology includes: fusion materials research (first wall materials and linked technology at VTT Manufacturing Technology, fusion neutronics at VTT Energy, analytical chemistry of fusion materials at VTT Chemical Technology). A second domain of fusion technology consists in remote handling systems (teleoperation and remote handling systems at Helsinki University of Technology, water hydraulics in ITER fusion reactor and telemanipulation for fusion reactors both at Tampere University of Technology).
