Database of Ukrainian manuscripts and early printed books

Obiettivo



This project aims to make accessible to systematic research the data on Cyrillic manuscripts and early printed books in Ukraine, irrespective of their language, in a database that can be consulted in a variety of ways. It will be compiled from card files already available and new topological research starting at L'viv and environs. Two teams will handle manuscripts and imprints.

Photography of specimen openings of manuscripts and early imprints via QuickTake 100 camera, storage on magnetic media, manual entry of codicological, palaeographic and textological data, according to the CIBAL description format, in Fourth Dimension database format via PowerBook and Power Maclntosh will be executed. Further, the control and editing of data on the basis of current printouts via StyleWriter will be carried out. Publication of short title list and indices via output on foil from LaserWriter will be produced. Conversion to ISIS and MARC formats and vice versa will be established by a local software specialist.
