Synthesis of Novel Magnetic Materials Based on Ferrocenyl Species and Metal Oxalate Anions: Effects of Chirality

Objective

The challenge of this project is to synthesize novel materials related to known metal oxalates salts with specific magnetic properties based on optically active centered or planar chiral cations which can induce the formation of three dimensional optically active networks. The synthesis of the optically active cations will be developed in three directions: -centered optically active cations -cations possessing a planar chirality -cations possesing an optically active hetero-bimetallic cluster core. The research activity will be focused by the different groups involved on this project as followed:
Novel ways to synthesize optically active cations
determination of the structures
Synthesis of three dimensional networks based on oxalate bimetallic anions
with chiral cations
studies of the physical properties of these new compounds.
