Vocational training plan for geo-scientists and workers in geophysical methods, for sub-surface, environmental and earthquake prediction studies

Objective

The objective of this project is to develop and test a vocational training programme in magnetotelluric and electrotelluric [MT/ET] geophysical methods for practising geo-scientists and geo-engineers, local authority employees and students. The project will provide professionals and students with new tools and updated knowledge for sub-surface geo-science and earthquake prediction studies, and better prepare them for the future demands of the job market in this specialised field.

Partners will : exchange information, expertise and experience; develop methods and design the training programme; and contribute to the upgrading of instruments used during geophysical surveys. Further phases will focus on MT/ET training in the field and instrument training, project evaluation and final training programme testing.

Impact
Through the transfer of technology and expertise in MT/ET applications, the project will lead to the development of improved tools for addressing fracture and site characterisation for hazardous waste products, research in earthquake prediction, energy resources and other geo-scientific work.
