Objetivo European mobility requires communicative and intercultural skills. Traditional foreign-language teaching concentrates on long-term course programmes. However, there is an increasingly strong demand for short-term courses using pedagogical methods based on games for conveying teaching content. This project will develop printed materials for learning in a group situation as well as a CD-Rom for the language combinations: French for Germans, Italian for Germans, and Greek for Italians. The aim is to provide learners with communication skills in short courses to prepare them for work-experience placements abroad in the hotel and catering sector. The courses are based on the context of linguistic animation for short-term supported foreign-language courses. Short language preparation phases for traineeships abroad cannot pick up on what has been learned at school. As there is little time available for learning a foreign language, the learning content has to be reduced. Communication situations are anticipated according to their applicability. Although only a little can be conveyed, this small amount is sure to be mastered by those taking part. Grammar will play a subordinate role and errors will be permitted. The concept of linguistic animation is based on pedagogical game-method principles. Regional cultural content will be incorporated into the language-teaching process, half of which will take place in the participant's own country and half in the appropriate foreign country. Learning and practising in the group situation will take place in a playful atmosphere. Those taking part will be involved in organising the course; the social form will be changed frequently and the participants will also leave the classroom in order to find out before their stay abroad what elements of the foreign country concerned are already present in their own town or city. Animation means providing motivation and instilling enthusiasm for the country and its people. This targeted communicative language-learning process will be supported via the media referred to above.ImpactThe project contributes to the acquisition of key qualifications in the hotel and catering sector, as well as promoting the dissemination of multimedia learning products in this area and fostering mobility in Europe.Contract number : D/96/1/01032/PI/III.3.a/FPCDomaine : Continuing vocational trainingContents : Language skills Vocational qualifications Transition of young people to workProducts : Glossaries Semi-autonomous/ flexible training Audio cassette Public : Young workers Unemployed Trainers, designers & managers of training programmes Programa(s) ET-LEONARDO DA VINCI 1 - Action programme for the implementation of a European Community vocational training policy Leonardo da Vinci, 1995-1999 Tema(s) III.3.a - Multiplier-effect projects Convocatoria de propuestas Data not available Régimen de financiación CSC - Cost-sharing contracts Coordinador UNDERSTANDINGBUS/PARITÄTISCHES BILDUNGSWERK BERLIN E.
