Vocational training model for socially isolated adults

Objective

The aim of this project is to design a vocational training programme for socially isolated adults. This group often suffers from a lack of education and consequently cannot gain access to regular vocational training. The LANANDREA project intends to prove the thesis that vocational education for the socially isolated must be combined with a complete personal and cultural education programme before employment-oriented training can commence. The pilot project will take place in three phases:
1. design of training modules covering personal, cultural and occupational orientation issues;
2. organisation of vocational training workshops suited to the trainees and envisaged sources of employment;
3. monitoring of individual job-seeking endeavours and counselling on the setting up of small companies.

The training programme will be adapted to meet the needs of the socially isolated by taking three criteria into consideration: age of participants, urban/rural origin and whether the group is all female or mixed. Results will be disseminated via a travelling exhibition and publication of a guide explaining the model and its constituent modules.

Impact
Improved vocational training and greater prospects of socio-economic reintegration for the socially isolated through the design of a training model better suited to the specific needs of this group.
