CATALYTIC MEMBRANE REACTORS: APPLICATION TO FINE CHEMICALS SYNTHESIS

Objectif

It has been shown that the membrane reactor, when correctly used, is a very efficient tool for the transfer of the gaseous reactant to the solid catalyst, in good keeping with the starting hypothesis.
When compared to classical slurry or fixed-bed (trickle) reactors where the gaseous reactant is generally the limiting factor, the catalytic membrane reactor appears to be a good candidate in gas-liquid-solid reactions. Moreover the fact that the catalyst is part of the reactor avoids the catalyst recovery step (slurry reactor) or the possible leaching of the active phase (fixed-bed). This catalyst configuration should also facilitate the regeneration of the active phase after ageing.
