Objective Objectives and problems to be solved:This project aims to develop a MF-SOFC stack with a nominal rating of ~20 kWe, which will be suitable for retrofitting with internal reforming modules aggregating ~50 kWe. Design and manufacturing specifications will be produced, including procedures of building and operating a sub-megawatt system. The universal MF-SOFC module, which is the building block of the system, requires scale up in rating and performance in line with commercial targets of durability, reliability and cost. A detailed understanding of the factors effecting degradation in performance over time is required, and is as such a major focus of development within the programme.
