Objetivo This project aims at the development and industrial implementation of ceramic nanofilters in the edible oil refinery process for the recovery and recycling of organic solvent. In conventional oil processing, edible oils are usually extracted with an organic solvent, which is partly recovered by distillation. Thermally and chemically stable ceramic nanofilters offer an economical and environmentally friendly alternative for solvent recovery, due to diminished solvent losses and lower energy consumption. Earlier developed ceramic nanofilters, obtained by sol-gel technique, will be the starting point for this application. Development and characterisation of nanofilters with improved characteristics is within the scope of this project.
