Mechanical tests and identification of parameters for metal forming processes (TESTIFY)

Objectif

Computer models are now widely used in the early tool design stages for metal forming processes. The quality of simulations is limited by the accuracy of input parameters, i.e. the data for large strain material behavior and of the tool-work piece interface. Parameters are identified from laboratory tests. Methodologies are needed to obtain quickly reliable material data. The goal is to develop and compare hot deformation test for identifying such parameters. The most commonly used tests are studied: torsion, axisymetric and plane strain compressions. The output will include (a) sensitivity analysis of numerical simulation results to material parameters, (b) good practice guides and analysis on industrial cases, (c) industrialized finite element software based on inverse methods of the different tests.
