Evaluation of the safety and efficacy of iron supplementation in the pregnant women

Objective

Recent developments in biotechnology (cell transfection, clone development), bioengineering (microtechnology) as well as high throughput screening (HTS) open new directions with respect to integrated systems for drug screening and target discovery. New techniques allow immobilization of single biomolecules as well as imprinting of key-structures on surfaces. Cells can be designed by tranfection techniques to express defined sets of target structures linked to reporter functions. Molecules for cell anchoring can be used for seeding of the designed cells on adhesive patterns. Existing concepts of ultra-high throughput screening will be adapted to new integrated micro carrier systems in order to improve sensitivity, specificity and speed as well as to extend the application range.
