Objective The objective of the project is to design a new technology in the field of water desalinisation, in order to propose and alternative solution for small capacity units in the range 10 m³/day to 100m³/day. The technology that will be used is the single effect mechanical vapour compression process integrating an evaporating entirely made of polymer. This will enable to improve the yield, to reduce the energy consumption, the manufacturing costs, the maintenance operations and to increase the unit reliability. It will allow to solve some of the water desalinisation problems such as corrosion, fouling, water pollution (by working at higher temperature), medium yield, etc. the research work will include: the choice of the appropriate polymer, the design of the unit with a special study of the evaporator and compressor dimensioning, the assembly process, the construction of an operational prototype.
