Objective
Following large-scale releases of radioactivity, different urban, industrial and rural environments may be contamined for many years. Consequently, areas of industrial and agricultural production, residence and recreation may all need to be managed to mitigate the impact of contamination. Although emergency planning is conducted throughout Europe, it is focused upon short - term response with limited consideration of long-term management. To sustain acceptable living and working conditions, the ability to implement robust, effective holistic restoration strategies is paramount. This project will develop decision framework software to optimise long-term restoration strategies accounting for countermeasure practicability, cost-effectiveness and will include ethical, social and non-market economic considerations.
