Sewage sludge gasification for chp applications (CHP SEWAGE GASFN)

Objective

A strong consortium, comprising industry, industrial R&D organisations and Universities will examine all major steps involved in the gasification of sludge. Technical, environmental and economic issues will be addressed, including the identification, quantification and characterisation of different sludges, and examination of issues associated with their handling, preparation, transport and feeding. Sludge gasification performance will be assessed using alternative gasification technologies and the fuel gases produced characterised. Associated environmental issues of the release, production and abatement of fuel gas contaminants will be studied. The data generated will be assessed (techno-economically) examining the effectiveness of the various gasification technologies and their application to CHP systems.
