Quantification of the distribution of radiation doses received by humans through the various pathways in a contamined indoor environment

Objective

The influence of range of factors on the potentially highly significant doses received from contaminant deposition to humans is currently not well understood. The objective of the proposed project is to generate extensive and wide-ranging data to address this problem. A collaborative experimental programme involving new techniques is designed, which will be used to achieve this objective. Parameter values will be quantified, which can be used to greatly refine EU standard release models, such as COSYMA, as well as in connection with dose assessment in the workplace. The experimental data will form the necessary foundation for the ultimate project goal: the provision of a holistic model of radiation doses received through the various pathways of gas and particle exposure in a contaminated indoor environment.
