Objective
The proposed project comprises:
Laboratory studies of the co-utilisation of biomass and natural gas;
Development of a hydrolysis oil/natural gas and gasified biomass/natural gas burners; Pilot scale testing of the technology;
Development of advanced controls and systemsintegration;
Technical, environmental and social assessment of the technologyoptions;
Project co-ordination, exploitation and securing commercial demonstration.
The project is principally aimed at two applications; the use of biomass and natural gas in the supplementary firing stages of the heat recovery steam generation sections of mid-sized gas turbine-based systems, and on the joint utilisation of natural gas and biomass in standard boiler/steam turbine systems but with extensions for NOx reduction.
