Objetivo The universality of the IP protocol will continue to be a driving force of the global IT economy, but mobile wireless access is regarded as the technology of choice for allowing users to access all the potential applications and location dependent services anywhere anytime, with special requirements regarding ease of use, confidentiality, and cultural diversity in the European market. The overall scope of the INTERNODE proposal is to investigate, enhance and demonstrate on a real network, technologies for the efficient provisioning and service level interworking of IP VPN services for nomadic users across multi-domain and heterogeneous networks. INTERNODE will address multi-domain heterogeneous (Wireless LAN, GPRS/UMTS and Next Generation IP based networks with mobility features) inter-working and security standards supporting access to Internet and Intranet services. Objectives:INTERNODE will design, specify and implement a Service Provisioning Support (SPS) platform, which will be used to create multi-domain services for nomadic users (E-business, nomadic Internet and intranet access, personalised services, customer self care, etc.).Other objectives are set up a technology experiment to integrate IP, mobile services and digital certificate technology at transport and application levels. Also to integrate the technology components and test in an operational network, to develop intelligent service profiling support, to provide a truly secure Internet banking application and to contribute to relevant standard organisations and IST dissemination mechanisms.Work description:The work scope is to design and develop a novel, open, highly efficient and scaleable Service Provision Support platform, that will be built using multi-domain and heterogeneous telecommunications networks such as Wireless LAN, GPRS/UMTS and Next Generation IP based network with mobility features. The workplan is made up of 8 workpackages:WP1. Project management. Ensure that the complete project is undertaken successfully and that the quality of work is of the highest level.WP2. Architecture. Define the structure and requirements for the service architecture to be developed.WP3. Security. Examine all security aspects of the project in order to ensure a coherent approach.WP4. Specification and design. Design the SPS platform, the Server application, the Client software and the Associated security features.WP5. Implementation. Develop the Service Support Platform, the application modules and the client-side software.WP6. Integration and testing. Plan, co-ordinate and execute the integration onto the GPS/ UMTS network of the GSM operator partner.WP7. Service experiment. This workpackage, which runs on a GPRS/UMTS network, will plan and execute the experiment and report the results.WP8. Exploitation and dissemination. Provide the base for the exploitation of the nomadic services that have been developed by INTERNODE. It also includes the dissemination of information to standards bodies and various other working groups.Milestones:Interworking service architecture definition and requirements in month +1.
