Disseminating the results of eu food research programmes to small and medium sized food industries, health professionals and consumer groups through a 24 - country interactive network system

Objectif

Our main objective is to promote innovation in the food sector in Europe and Eastern European countries through the interactive dissemination of RTD results to three target groups: SMEs, Health Professionals and Consumer Groups. Results issued in a user-friendly way will be sent to the relevant end-users to measure their reactions as well as their requirements through consensus platforms as a test-bed and the feedback will be then sent to the Commission.
Expected results are:
-Increased awareness of the target groups towards EU food research results.
- Improved information for the EU regarding the target group’s requirements.

The two main objectives of Flair-Flow 4 are as follows:
1.To disseminate results from European Union sponsored food research programmes. The EU commission finances about a hundred food research projects each year, on topics such as consumer needs and attitudes, nutrition, food safety, technology. We tailor the scientific information to three categories of end users (small and medium enterprises - consumer groups - health professionals) by writing for each one in a different style and with a different perspective. We disseminate these documents to end users through our European network: each national network leader disseminates the information through their three national networks -one for each target group;
2.OPEN A DIALOGUE between scientists and each category of end users. Each national network leader will organise in their country debates in the form of panels, which are chosen by the end users themselves.

The methodology is the same in each country and for each type of end users:
- Form a working group of representatives to decide on the subject they want to discuss with scientists (allergy, organic food, obesity, colon health);
- Give them a document which summarises the state of scientific knowledge on this particular issue;
- A few weeks later, the group meets again to generate a list of relevant questions;
- Organise the debate between the group of representatives and some scientists selected for their ability to respond to the questions.
