Development of a bioreactor-based connective tissue production line (TISSUE REACTOR)

Objective

It is the aim of this project to engineer connective tissue in vitro and to demonstrate its applicability as a tissue substitute in vivo. To achieve this goal a continuous cultivation process based on a perfused fixed-bed bioreactor system and its components will be developed which allows the production of large quantities of three-dimensional (3-d) tissue cultures in combination with capillary-like prevascular precursors to form in vitro tissue constructs. The primary focus will be bone tissue, and bone tissue constructs will then subsequently be implanted in vivo to demonstrate their potential to improve current limitations in bone substitution surgery.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies/euroscivoc.
