Combustion behaviour of clean fuels in power generation ('BIO FLAM')

Objetivo

To achieve CO2 reduction the use of short cycle carbon containing fuels is a promising option. These fuels have the potential to replace fossil fuels but operational and environmental problems may dramatically affect the combustion system. To solve problem of secondary fuel application a detailed in-advance knowledge of the combustion behaviour is needed. The objective of this project is to provide simple, capable test methods to give insight in the fate of secondary fuel in a power plant. Different preparation and combustion characteristics The results are pre-competitive and can be used by any power plant operator in Europe. The 17 participants from 7 European countries consist of Electricity Producers and R&d organisations from Germany, Uk, NL, IT, Poland, Greece, and Portugal. The BioFlam project includes full and lab scale experiments, extended dissemination via web sites, direct industrial application and is a combustion service platform.
