Objectif Description:The IReS is host to the EUROBALL IV gamma-detector array: a unique device in Europe, the only other with comparable efficiency being in the US. EUROBALL is equipped with an "inner-ball" multiplicity filter/calorimeter and can be coupled to12 different ancillary detectors, giving additional information or providing cleaner selection of the nuclei studied. Experiments on the array exploit ion beams from the VIVITRON: a 20 MV electrostatic accelerator providing continuous or pulsed beams of both heavy and light ions.Other available detectors are: UK charged-particle array CHARISSA for cluster structure studies in nuclei; University of Manchester VELOCITY FILTER for studies of fusion Reactions; Strasbourg charged-particle array ICARE for studies of reaction dynamics; Franco-Belgian 100-element neutron detector DEMON, principally for studies of fission dynamics (not permanently on-site). There is also a dedicated ION-MATTER BEAMLINE for material studies, in particular radiation damage.Application:Experimental proposals are submitted twice-yearly to the Programme Advisory Committee; an international, independent group of specialists. Eligible teams with accepted proposals are invited to apply for financial support for some team members. Calls for proposals are announced at around six-monthly intervals in "Nuclear Physics News International", on the EUROVIV web page and by individual e-mail (for inclusion on the alias contact Neil.Rowley@IReS.IN2P3.fr).Project Manager:Neil Rowley, IReS, 23 rue du Loess, Strasbourg 67037, B.P. 28, France;Tel: +33-3-88106167;Fax: +33-3-88106479;E-Mail: Neil.Rowley@IReS.IN2P3.fr Champ scientifique natural sciencesphysical sciencestheoretical physicsparticle physicsneutrinosnatural sciencesphysical sciencesnuclear physics Programme(s) FP5-HUMAN POTENTIAL - Programme for research, technological development and demonstration on "Improving the human research potential and the socio-economic knowledge base" (1998-2002) Thème(s) 1.4.1.-2. - Access to Research Infrastructures Appel à propositions Data not available Régime de financement LFC - Access to Research Infrastructures Coordinateur UNIVERSITE LOUIS PASTEUR, STRASBOURG 1 Contribution de l’UE Aucune donnée Adresse Rue du Loess 23 67037 STRASBOURG France Voir sur la carte Coût total Aucune donnée
